      Then it makes more sense and has some usefulness, but crosscourt is still the high % play.

    Basic club player and am frequently in this position but mostly play Doubles with some very very good poachers – even over aggressive poaching typically, so need this shot down the line to avoid being a very predictable lobber. Cross court needs to be so acute to beat the poacher.

      Yes this lesson is more for singles, but in doubles crosscourt is still the general play here. However keeping the net player in check occasionally is a great play. Just use it sparingly!
