When playing a match, thinking too much can actually be a bad thing–rather, you should be focused on just a few key objectives. In today’s lesson, Brady discusses what you should be thinking about when trying to hold serve in doubles.

Great tennis. Grammar, not so much. You said several times “between Mark and I”. – no. It should be between Mark and me. (me is the object of the preposition “between”). You said, “Mark and I play …” That’s correct because the compound subject “Mark and I” is the subject of the sentence. Thanks for the great tennis tips!

Good thing I’m a tennis coach and not an English teacher 🙂

    1. how to deal with being burned by their strong returns down the middle ? move serve position closer to the center point ?

    2. trying to serve/volley on second serve improves your chances of getting to soft angled cross-court return which is something of a staple in our 3.5 to 4.0 seniors matches

You should not be getting beat down the middle on returns in doubles. To me that’s the server’s partner responsibility. I like serving and volleying as well in doubles on second serves, just so long the returner isn’t crushing returns at your feet.
