Thanks Brady, very useful. I also agree that there’s not enough emphasis on the first volley from a lot of coaches, I asked mine for advice and didn’t get much back. The grip pressure is a helpful call.
I’ve also seen pro’s using your drill or a variation of it in training. A few years back in Dubai I saw ex world 33 Denis Istomin and his hitting partner stand on their service lines and nail 25-30 volleys at each other. I couldn’t believe the power and consistency. Neither moved much because they were so accurate. It was impressive.
